[ New Map Update ]

Our maps got a complete overhaul on the front & back end.
Maps now calculate from US census tract geo boundaries versus a "metro area."
In November, we went from 130 cities in our drop downs to over 2,000. That update upended up the door for lots of new opportunities.
Now, when you view filter to your specific city, our map will only render bike lane obstructions within your city's census tract boundary.
The calculations you see in our map key are now based only what's visible on the map (which is the census tract boundary). When we only had 130 cities in our drop downs, we couldn't really be so specific, but the con was that stats on the map key could overlap a bit between cities, depending on how close they were in proximity.
Boston metro is a good example of the benefits of this change. Now Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville all get their own map stats. . . . . (Their metro city being so divided is also how we prevent them from winning March Madness 🏀)
When filtering to a city, our maps will now orient on your screen to the mathematical center of census tract geo boundaries vs the center of a metro area.
Maps now update every 2 hours vs 3.
We're a little worried about how much these updates are going to cost. We might have to rollback features 🫠

Also...It's wild how much usage has grown😳🤯
